You should say
When it happened
What it was about

BAND 9 MODEL ANSWER
I’m going to describe a conflict between two of my friends.
If my memory serves me well ( used for saying that you think you have remembered something correctly), It was about 6 years ago when we engaged in (to take part in a particular activity) a voluntary activity involving building rooms for school and teaching English for the disadvantaged children in an isolated (not near to other places) area.
So, on a daily basis we needed to hold lots of conversations to discuss and figure out (to be able to understand something or to solve a problem) suitable teaching methods as well as the design of the rooms. At first, every thing had gone smoothly as we all agreed with our leader who was the senior at the time but when it comes to (if/when a situation becomes extremely serious and a decision must be made) choosing the right material for English lessons, the argument broke out (start) between the leader and an American friend. They both came up with (to suggest or think of a plan or an idea ) different ideas. Everything just came to an end (to stop or end) when the supervisor gave sound (showing or based on good judgment) advice. He decided to give them time to experiment the chosen materials.
In terms of my feeling, well, I would say I was quite anxious in the first place as I was afraid they might pick a fight with each other when both of them just lost their cool (to lose control of one’s composure, temper ) but I also thought that this incidence was partly a positive sign since people put all of their efforts into the project.

What do family members usually have arguments about?

23. IELTS Cue Card: Describe an environment law / Describe a law about environment protection your country has
You should say:
what it is
how you first learned about it
who benefits from it
And explain how you feel about this law
BAND 9 MODEL ANSWER
I’m going to describe a regulation that has been put in effect (to cause something to apply, to enforce something) in some big cities in my country, which is banning motorbike use in urban areas. As you know, there are a large number of private vehicles that emit plenty of exhaust fumes (gases ejected from an engine as waste products into the atmosphere, so authorities have done their best to reduce the air pollution and forbidding motorbike is a viable (able to be done, or worth doing) method.
Well, I came across (to find something by chance) this piece of legislation (a law, or a set of laws) on the Internet while I was searching high and low (to search very thoroughly) for my research. I guess enforcing this law (to make sure that something happens or is done) may offer great benefits to anyone in our society since the fewer motorbikes are the less contaminated (make something dirty, polluted, or poisonous) our air is. More specifically, vehicles often send out (allow a substance such as chemicals or smoke to escape into the atmosphere ) fine dusts which cause respiratory diseases (relating to the process of breathing air in and out) and might increase the risk of getting cancer for humans.
In terms of my feeling, I am satisfied with this law because this contributes significantly to cleaning our air instead of smog blanketing (cover something with a layer of something ) the sky most of the time in megacities (a very large city, with a population of at least 10 million). However, I am concerned that the government must make lots of efforts to upgrade infrastructure like subway and road networks in order to make this law more effective.
24. IELTS cue card: Describe an article on health that you read from a magazine or online
You should say:
- What the article was
- When and where you read it
- What you learned from the article
- Explain why you think it is a good or bad article
Band 8 Model Answer
I’m going to a piece of news related to health I used to read on the Internet. You know, in the face of Covid 19 pandemic (an occurrence of a disease which affects a whole country/ the world, which is a highly contagious (a contagious disease spreads from one person to another through the air or touch) disease and has caused millions of deaths in any parts of the world, most of the people are curious and have tried to stay on top of what’s going on a daily basis and I am no exception. The article writes about symptoms, preventative measures as well as the current situations of this fatal (causing someone to die) disease.
Well, due to the social distancing (measures which help to slow the spread of an infectious disease by avoiding close), I just stayed at home and glued my eyes to the smartphone’s screen all the time and came across (find something by chance) this article on a famous periodical (a magazine on a particular subject that is published regularly) while I was surfing the websites.
As I mentioned earlier, the article mentioned everything about the infectious (an infectious disease is one that can spread from one person to another) disease and certainly the first thing I learned from it was how to identify the disease from typical symptoms as well as distinguish it from common cold. On top of that, I was provided with the methods to stay away from the disease like maintaining healthy routines and eating habits. Therefore, I would say this is a useful article that everyone should have a look at to stay updated and prepare themselves for the fight against this lethal disease (very dangerous disease).
25. IELTS Cue Card: Describe an open-air or street market which you enjoyed visiting.
You should say:
– where the market is
– what the market sells
– how big the market is
– and explain why you enjoyed visiting it.
BAND 8 MODEL ANSWER
I’m going to describe an outdoor market that I love to pay a visit on a regular basis. It’s called The Box Market slap-bang (exactly in a particular position) in the heart of the most populated (a populated area has people living there) city in my country .
This market offers a wide range of wares such as books, food and miscellaneous (various kinds of thing, esp small purchases ) items. But the thing I like most is the clothes which have diverse styles with cheap price.
In terms of its size, it’s quite big with hundreds of stalls. Therefore, this place is often jam-packed (completely full) with thousands of people on the weekends.
There are two primary reasons why I am fanatical about (like) doing some shopping there. First, it provides a great atmosphere for people from all walks of life (the position someone have in society). Second, the products are of good quality at a bargain (a lower than usual price).
So, this place is my all-time favorite destination to unwind (to relax after working hard) every weekend evening.
